For monolithic concrete slabs, the concrete surface usually serves as the finished floor. Hard aggregate toppings provide high surface quality and wear resistance. Depending on requirements, the surface can be impregnated, smooth-finished or textured. Steel fibres reduce cracking risk, while laser-guided machines ensure high evenness. Modern special concretes allow joint-free fields up to 30 × 30 m. Individual sections are formed with steel joints and edge protection.
